Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) Certification MIL-STD-188-165A 

Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) utilizes the MIL-STD-188-165A standard as a basis for operation on the Wideband Global SATCOM infrastructure. Comtech’s modems are compliant with the strict requirements defined in MIL-STD-188-165A for modem types I, II, IV, V and VI for applications on DSCS, WGS, and commercial satellites. Data rates from 8 kbps to 155 Mbps and symbol rates from 32 ksps to 64 Msps are supported.

MIL-STD-188-165B / STANAG 4486 Edition 3 

MIL-STD-188-165B as well as STANAG 4486 Edition 3 defines a basic modem with a mandatory, interoperable core mode and a standard mode with various optional features, and in addition, it defines (Annex E) characteristics of an advanced open-source FDMA modem waveform, also known as the Enhanced Bandwidth-Efficient Modem (EBEM) waveform. This waveform also supports Information Throughput Adaptation (ITA). Also referred to as Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), ITA enables modems on each side of a point-to-point link to use the modulation and coding combination that maximizes throughput, and automatically adapts the optimum operating point as conditions (such as weather) change. ​
